“How to shop for Boots this Fall”
When buying a pair of boots there are a few things to consider. If they look good with any outfit, can survive a downpour, and most important for me will they age beautifully? Unfortunately, most high-quality boots cost hundreds of dollars and I know there are many aspects of a boot to take into account before pulling the trigger.
1. Styles
-
Women: Over the-knee, Combat Boots, Ankle Boots, Cowboy Boots, Riding Boots, Slouch Boots, Sock Boots. I look for styles that are both trendy but also classic so that you’ll be able to wear them for years to come.
-
Men: The Chelsea Boot is my all-time favorite, and also the Dress Boot and Chukka Boot will be great styles to have in your wardrobe this Fall.
2. Comfort
-
Make sure the boot is roomy enough to wear with a sock, sometimes this entails going up half a size depending on the designer.
-
There are a lot of parts to a boot to consider such as the type of leather, grip, and shank but I feel these are more relevant when purchasing work boots.
-
Try it on, walk around in it and move your ankle around a bit to check for flexibility.
3. Where to Shop
-
Department Stores (Nordstrom, Macy’s, Saks, Dillards), offer a huge selection of styles
-
Online Boutiques (Farfetch, Revolve, Mytheresa)
-
Online Resale (Poshmark, EBay Etsy ) is a great place to find well-used boots for a reasonable price
